ANCHOR BOLTS:
1 anchor bolt per every 4 LF of foundation wall, 1 foot off
every corner and 1 foot off every seam on sill plate.

UNIT QUANTITIES-BLOCK:
• 21/2 high block (21/4 x 8 x 16) – 3.10 block per SF of
wall area
• Half High block (8 x 4 x 16) – 2.25 block per SF of wall area
• Standard block (4”, 6”, 8”, 12”) – 1.125 block per SF of
wall area
• Standard block (4”, 6”, 8”, 12”) – 0.75 x length of wall = # of
block/course
• Height of wall (in feet) x 1.5 = # of courses
 

 

 

 

 

UNIT QUANTITIES-BRICK & PAVERS:
• Face brick modular – 7 brick per SF of wall area
• Oversize brick – 6 brick per SF of wall area
• Utility brick – 3 brick per SF of wall area
• Paver brick – 4.5 per SF
• Brick per LF = LF/0.667
 

 

 

 

 

 

MASONRY CEMENT QUANTITIES:
• Type “S” - Foundations (Sub-grade)
• Type “N” – Veneer walls
• Mix 1 part masonry cement to 2-3 parts sand
• Block – 3 bags per 100 block
• Face brick modular – 7 bags per 1000 brick
• Oversize brick – 8 bags per 1000 brick
• Utility brick – 10 bags per 1000 brick
 

 

 

 

SAND QUANTITIES:
• Sand – 1 yard per 7 bags of masonry cement
• 1 yard sand = 1.25 tons
• 1 yard sand per 1000 brick
• 1 yard sand per 200 block
 

 

 

HORIZONTAL WALL REINFORCING QUANTITIES:
• Horizontal wall reinforcing for block – SF/1.33
• Every other course or every 16”
 

 

METAL WALL TIES (for stud back-up):
1 per every 10 brick (100 wall ties per 1000 brick)
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CAVITY FILL INSULATION QUANTITIES:
• Perlite Cavity fill insulation – 4 CF per bag

APPROXIMATE VOLUME REQUIRED TO FILL CORE VOIDS IN BLOCK

8 x 8 x 16 2 core 0.25 CF/block
(1 bag Perlite fills 16 - 8” block)

FIRE CLAY:
1 part Fire Clay, 1 part Portland Cement (not Masonry
Cement), 1 part Sand. Mix with water to the desired
consistency.
